What does a medical expert witness do?
A medical expert witness reviews the medical facts of a case, applies clinical knowledge and standard-of-care guidelines, and provides an objective, well-supported opinion to help attorneys and the court understand complex medical issues. This can include case file review, written reports, depositions, and trial testimony.
What types of cases do you handle?
I consult on cases involving emergency medical care including sepsis, trauma, strokes, abdominal pain, neurologic and cardiac emergencies. I also specialize in addiction medicine with specialized knowledge on substance use disorders, including overdose deaths, withdrawal management, opioids and other controlled substance prescribing, impairment-related medical questions, toxicology, acute pain management, and emergency department standard-of-care disputes.
Do you work with both plaintiff and defense attorneys?
Yes. I provide independent, objective evaluations regardless of which side retains me. My role is to give an honest medical assessment of the facts, not to advocate for a predetermined outcome.

What is the process for a case file review?
After you send over the medical records and case background, I review the full file, identify the key clinical issues. From there, we can discuss next steps, including a formal report if requested.
How long does a case review typically take?
Turnaround time depends on the size and complexity of the file, but I prioritize prompt review and will give you a realistic timeline upfront once I’ve seen the volume of records involved.
What are your fees?
Fees vary by the scope of work (case review, report writing, deposition, or trial testimony). Reach out for a current fee schedule — I’m happy to discuss costs before any work begins.
Are you available for depositions and trial testimony?
Yes. In addition to case file review and written reports, I’m available for depositions and, if needed, trial testimony.
What are your qualifications?
I’m a dual board-certified physician in Emergency Medicine and Addiction Medicine, a senior staff physician at a level-1 trauma center, and have specialized training in Addiction Medicine from Stanford. Do you only work on cases in Michigan?
